Upholstered Pads Vs. Cushions

While our upholstered pads provide cushioning, we don’t define them the same as we would a “cushion”. The main difference we see between the two is the addition of a solid substrate (usually plywood or MDF board) within the upholstered pad that would not be present in a cushion. A cushion can be flipped and used on both sides while an upholstered pad has a top and bottom. Many times both can be used interchangeably but each have different benefits for their applications.

Upholstered pads are great for durability and shape retention. The fabric on upholstered pads won’t “walk” or bunch like cushions. They also tend to be a more permanent installation by either being glued or screwed to the base structure. We are happy to fabricate both upholstered pads and cushions, so just let us know the application for the cushioning you need and we can help with the best solution for your upholstery needs.
