What is a banquette? “Banquette” is just a fancy word for upholstered bench furniture that tends to sit multiple people and is usually built into the room. Here at Corn Upholstery, we have seen every application of banquettes from the hospitality industries, to multi-family complexes, to corporate environments, and tucked nicely into residential home builds. Below is a showcase of some of our favorite banquette installs we have fabricated recently. Enjoy!

1. Custom booth and banquette seating at Emory University

This install included many different upholstery techniques as well as interesting design elements to make it truly custom to the space. A combination of leather and velvet on the dining banquettes create a lush pairing. Custom horizontal channeling on the complementing dining banquettes add a sense of movement to the pieces. Hand-folded diamond tufting in the booth seating adds a classic touch to balance the more modern setting around them. Metal accents compliment that modern look in many pieces to tie the room together. We were honored to be a part of such a beautiful space!

2. Custom booth and banquette seating with custom pillows at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta

This project gave us the opportunity to fabricate a great seating design for a great organization. These custom banquettes follow a more traditional design while adding pops of color and texture to make them stand out. Functionality takes a front seat with the addition of power hubs in each banquette to allow for easy charging and working on the go. This project also includes custom pillows with complementing colors and the organization’s logo embroidered on the front.

3. Corporate Headquarters in Downtown Atlanta’s Colony Square

Designers have taken a real shine to corporate settings these days. They see it as a challenge to take a purely functional space and make it into an inviting, collaborative environment that promotes creativity and innovation. Drab style and cookie-cutter furniture just won’t do, and that’s where we come in; we create the designer’s dream with custom furniture that can’t be found anywhere else. In this corporate HQ we were called on to manufacture these expansive channeled back banquettes for their guest reception area as well as their employee lounge. Following the angled wall adds a lot of interest and they were nicely paired with textured, grey ottomans to add to the collaborative seating.

4. Private Residence in North Atlanta

While we specialize in commercial, contract grade custom furniture for the hospitality industries, we are always happy to help home designers elevate their interior projects with custom upholstery pieces. Here we see a great collaboration between the millworker and ourselves to create a beautiful built-in bench for this dining area. This bench consists of a lush velvet fabric wrapped around horizontal back panels and seat cushions to accent the gorgeous dining table. What a beautiful way to enjoy a meal!

5. Custom Seating within the Marquee Club At The Historic Fox Theatre in Atlanta, GA

It was an honor to be a part of such a special and historic project. The Marquee Club at the Fox Theatre called on us to create their custom sofas, club chairs, banquettes, and poufs. Each unique piece was designed to elevate the space with lush velvets, rich leathers, intricate woodwork, and expert detailing. Out of all of the custom furniture makers the Fox Theatre could have chosen, they knew they could trust Corn Upholstery to capture both the design and old-world quality of their interior design inspirations. This project is an absolute jewel in our upholstery crown!
