Commercial Furniture Upholsterer

Corn Upholstery Co. is a furniture manufacturer with a reupholstering division. We seek full-time skilled upholsterers for both manufactured product and reupholstering services. Candidate must have knowledge of upholstery construction techniques, fabrics, vinyl and leathers, foam and fabric measurement, placement, and design. Applicant must be skilled with hand tools and techniques required in the upholstery field. The position requires an eye for detail, shaping, symmetry, and design. It also requires speed, accuracy and the ability to work well and coordinate well with others. We typically work on antique furniture, sofas, chairs, and custom-built booths and banquettes.

Duties/Requirements:
• Able to use common upholstery tools such as air powered staple guns, mauls, hammers, scissors, regulators, tack pullers, etc.
• Requires the ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend for 8 hours or more daily. Requires constant use of arms, hands, fingers and eyes to upholstered furniture
• Requires the ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and supervision
• Prepare frames for upholstery using a variety of materials including webbing, padding, and foam.
• Work with fabric, vinyl, and leather to upholster frames with the use of welts, nails, adhesives, and other materials and hand tools including air compressed staple gun.
• Ability to work in a team environment towards a common goal.
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple work tasks.
• Organized and detail oriented.
• Follow all safety policies, procedures, and guidelines
• Inspect frames and other parts for quality or workmanship standards.
• Inspect upholstered articles to verify conformance to customer's order or company standards.

Qualifications/Responsibilities:
• Experience in upholstering quality pieces while meeting deadlines or lead-times.
• Ability to work with an assortment of materials from fabrics, vinyl, leather, etc.
• Ability to push, pull, carry up to 50 lbs.
• Execute with extreme accuracy and efficiency.
• Effectively take direction well from the shop lead and the design team.
• Ability to stand, bend and stretch for periods of time.

Our facility is located in Tucker, GA which is a NE suburb of Atlanta and easily reached via I-285, I-85 and Hwy. 78.
This is a permanent position with (40) hours per week. Employee may decide to work (5) 8-hour days per week or (4) 10-hour days.
Benefits include paid holidays, paid vacation and either piece-work or hourly wage.
